longest Par 4 at Makena South, the back tee is 470 yds. and the blue tee 430
yds. A long, straight drive very important to making a par here. From the far
back tee the player confronts a large tree to fly over or around. A power fade
is best but make sure not to go too far right as lava and more trees encumber
the long second shot. The left side is more open and, with no bunkers in front
of the green, gives the player the advantage to play a running shot. But bunkers
are left and in the rear if the player over plays. From the back tee the second
shot is around 200-220 yds. The blue tee leaves about 150-170, taking a Fairway
Wood or long iron into a humped and sloping green. I
played a good long drive to 210 and hit my 7 Wood just right and chipped up to
make a good par. Best
Tip: Favor the left side on the Driver and play approach shot to the front
of the green. Back bunkers come into play when trade winds are blowing. To
